KPI Launches New Sikorsky Distance Learning Platform

Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Igor Sikorsky introduces the Sikorsky Distance Learning Platform on a new basis.
The Sikorsky platform is an open virtual learning environment for the university that provides administrators, faculty and students with extensive opportunities to create distance learning courses and technologies.
 The platform is based largely on an open-ended Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) management system that has a wide range of functionality not only for creating distance courses and technologies, but also for facilitating interaction between teachers and students.
The main dynamic elements of the platform are lectures, tests, assignments, a glossary and tools for interactive communication in the form of seminars, videoconferences, polls, forums, chats and more.
In addition to web resources contained in the Moodle system, Sikorsky platform provides video courses that are accessible to anyone. Users can access the Moodle distance courses and the platform video courses from the sites http://uiite.kpi.ua/ and https://do.ipo.kpi.ua/ in 24/7 mode.
The educational resources of the Sikorsky platform are divided into four groups.
1. Distance courses (all their elements), under which students are taught according to the curricula under the supervision and supervision of teachers (such courses - 270). These courses are accessible through each student's enrollment. There are 4 800 students enrolled today.
2. Open access distance courses for everyone who wants to study without registration and without testing (there are currently 88 courses).
3. Distance courses for everyone who wants to study after registration. They have the opportunity to test and obtain certificates, according to which the relevant disciplines will be enrolled in KPI them. Igor Sikorsky (151 courses).
4. Video courses of the Economy for All cycle are freely available (there are 17 such courses). Currently, 4,968 users are registered on the Sikorsky platform, of which 4,800 are students, 165 teachers and 3 distance learning administrators.
All KPI teachers can post their study materials (lectures, assignments, tests, videos, etc.) on the Sikorsky platform in two ways:
- Those who have advanced training in the courses "Development of distance courses using Moodle" and "Creating and using web resources of courses" (such as 875 teachers of KPI named after I. Sikorsky) can independently develop courses in Moodle and through administrators them on the platform "Sikorsky";
- Those who do not yet have practical skills in Moodle Software may submit their training materials in any electronic form to platform administrators who convert these materials to the system.

                            "Electrochemical technologies of inorganic and organic materials"

  which will be held on
   May 13-15, 2019

      According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine order № 1572 from 06.12.2018 the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute " is allocated as the base higher education institution to organize the ІІ ROUND of the ALL-UKRAINIAN student`s competition "Electrochemical technologies of inorganic and organic materials" for specialty "Chemical technology and engineering".

Department of Electrochemical Productions Technology

        Department of Electrochemical Productions Technology (EPT) is one of the main departments of the faculty. It was founded in 1929 year. The head of the chair was Rabinovich M.O. The first academic group consisted of 6 persons and was formed from students.

Scientific achievements of Antropov L.I. and his followers have gained high international estimation. The Antropov’s textbook «Theoretical electrochemistry» had become a reference book for many electrochemists. World electrochemical community names Antropov L.I. among 12 scientists who has founded modern electrochemistry, and his school is one of the leading electrochemical in the world.

Nowadays the department is headed by doctor of engineering Linucheva O.V. 3 doctors of science and 10 PhD works at the department. Also here works 12 staff lecturers, 9 scientists, support staff – 5. Department has 146 students.

   Today at the department students receive ground knowledge in electrochemical theory, material science, development of new technologies and new materials; development of new corrosion protection technologies. Specialists are able to solve industrial problems, conduct ecological monitoring of the environment, introduce in manufacture new corrosion monitoring instruments, which are based on developed corrometers, design new types of sensors, introduce new electroplating technologies, conduct researches in the field of related technologies.

Admission is carried out on 2 specializations: «Electrochemical technology» and «Corrosion protection of metals».

Educational form: daily and distant.

Education period:
bachelor – 4 years;
specialist – 1,5 year;
master – 2 years.

Students of the department are able to get a double diploma.
Students have an opportunity after the IV year (bachelor degree) to gain a double masters diploma, that is to study simultaneously in NTUU “KPI” and in University of du’Men (Le-Man city, France). Thereby, after graduation students gain Ukrainian and France diploma. For double diploma students – education in France is free of charge, they are accommodated in hostel (separate room for everyone), they are paid with 800 euro a month scholarship. Students are taught in French. Students can learn French at special courses before going to France.

Additionally to the main speciality students are able to gain a diploma in economics, law or management.

Graduating students are placed at chemical, machine building, instrument making, radio-electronic enterprises and other industrial enterprises. They are also placed at research institutes of Kiev and other Ukrainian cities.

Welcome to the Department of Electrochemical Productions Technology!
